Each and every kid is aware of Dora the Explorer and her mind blowing adventures with her friends. This is a familiar program that is aired on Nickelodeon and offers a lot of moral lessons to the kids. If you little girl is addicted to Dora and her friends why not fulfill her wish by having a Dora the Explorer theme for her birthday? Start by designing or purchasing the Dora birthday invitations.

Purchasing Dora birthday party invitations is an appropriate option for people who have hectic work schedules and may have to juggle their time with the kids and their work. You can select from a lot of Dora themes, backgrounds and colors and even have the invitations personalized with the photo of your kid.

People looking at making their very own kids birthday party invitations can add different accessories and craft items to the invitations. You can easily purchase stationery and supplies such as plain or colored cardstocks, glitter pens, ribbons, laces, flowers and many more to decorate the borders of the invitations. Making homemade invitations will not only save you on money, but even your kid and the guests will appreciate your effort.

A cool option available for making unique invites is to design the invitations in the shape of a passport. If you have a scanner, you can easily scan your outside of your passport, cutting the bare edges and sticking stickers of Dora or her friends. Wordings can be like “This is your passport to a fun loving adventure with Dora the Explorer birthday with (your child’s name) and her friends!”

Apart from this, you can even make maps from brown colored parchment paper and draw familiar landmarks about your neighborhoods leading to the party venue. To give the Dora birthday invitations a more adventurous look, you can mark the part venue with an ‘X’ and have wordings such as “Follow the trail and join us for (your child’s name) Dora the Explorer Birthday Bash!”. The invitation can then be tied with ribbons and sent in a bottle with a name tag of the guest attached to it.

Another fun filling ideas for the Dora birthday party invitations can include sending out a Dora coloring book with the party details like the date, venue and time written on the inside of the book. These books will not only serve as invitations but will also act as great giveaways for the kids. Along with the invitations you can even send small Dora or Boot key chains or dolls.

No matter how you make the kids birthday party invitations, you might need to remember to mail the invitations a few weeks before the main birthday party so that the guests can make the necessary arrangements for attending the party. Make sure you mention the RSVP date so that you can know the exact head count for the party.

Your kid will definitely like these unique Dora birthday invitations and will proudly show them off to their friends in the neighborhood and in school. You might even want to take the help of your friends and relatives in order to create beautiful and attractive birthday invitations for the guests.

Come on an adventure with Dora and Diego and make your kids birthday party invitations more exciting. At birthdayparty-invitations.com we have a great range of personalized Dora birthday invitations.

In many communities, Halloween is not only for children’s trick-or-treating, or adults having parties, it is also a time when youth tear their neighborhoods apart and wreak general havoc, and refer to it as “fun.” If you have teenagers– or if you happen to be one– there are ways in which youth who are too old for door-to-door candy-seeking can have a good time on this holiday without being destructive, and without putting themselves or others in danger with unsafe group driving or roaming around in a dark neighborhood.

The standard alcohol-free Halloween party, with reliable supervision and a common sense time limit, is an answer. The very thought of gathering a dozen or more teens in one home may sound like a nightmare to the parents and boring to the youth; but with careful planning, it need not reach either group’s worries! A good time can be had by the teenagers; and it is entirely possible that the chaperones in charge will find themselves enjoying the festivities also.

When planning a youth-oriented Halloween party, it is a good idea to solicit some input from the teens themselves. They are quite likely to have very clear ideas about what types of music and other entertainment is the most suitable; and, in the absence of anything that is truly objectionable, they will appreciate having the leeway to make these types of decisions.

Likewise, the Halloween party will be more of a “hit” for the teens if they can select the types of refreshments that they prefer. The best idea is to have enough variety so that there is something which all of the guests will enjoy.

When you are planning this type of party, it is essential to set some basic rules beforehand, and for all of the guests to be aware of them. While most parents would agree that it is only common sense that no alcohol or drugs be allowed, it is best to make this policy clear to the teens, and also let the other parents know about it.

Planning a party that will proceed and end smoothly also means setting a time limit. It is a good idea to know in advance that all of the guests will have a way to get home, whether that means being picked up by their parents or being dropped off at home by you or someone else.

To make the Halloween party even more memorable, you can prepare gift baskets in advance, so that each guest will have something to take home. Most teenagers are as fond of candy and other such treats as young children are, and giving them well-stocked goodie baskets will lead them to not need to pester their younger siblings for Halloween candy afterward.

Hosting a Halloween party for teens does not have to be a nightmare for the parent, nor a dull evening for the youth; all it takes is some good planning and cooperation between both generations for everyone to have an enjoyable Halloween night.

These Halloween safety tips were brought to you by One Source Gift Baskets [http://www.onesourcegiftbaskets.com]. Gift baskets [http://www.onesourcegiftbaskets.com] are a safe alternative to give someone for Halloween instead of candy.

Summer is finally here (well, to some of us at least) and that means fun parties! Parties can be a great way to have fun during the warm weather. They also let the kids have fun during their break in school Enjoy a few of our summer party suggestions below.

Costume Party – Costume parties are fun for children and adults. Host a themed party, such as a 50’s party with poodle skirt costumes. Poodle skirts work great for costume parties because the poodle skirts come in sizes for every age. You can also have costumes be the theme, and have people show up in whatever costume they would like.

BBQ Party – Invite friends over for good food from the grill. Put down picnic tables and blankets in the shade and enjoy each others company. Serve hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta salads, potato salad, pork-n-beans, corn on the cob, and ice cold lemonade.

Fiesta – Have a fun fiesta party. There are plenty of ideas on the web right now since Cinco de Mayo is coming up. Be sure to have fun decorating with fun, bright colors and have a pinata for entertainment later in the party.

Pool Party – Cool off with a pool party in your back yard. Pool parties are easy because the entertainment is provided with the swimming pool. Provide pizza for dinner and popsicles for a treat after wards.

Block Party – Bring the neighborhood together for a neighborhood block party. Section off a part of the street and bring out recliner chairs for a fun neighborhood potluck. Send around sign up sheets for different foods people can bring.

Carnival – Host an outdoor carnival for the kids. Set up booths with face painting and other carnival crafts. Menu ideas should include finger foods and other “carnival” treats, such as cotton candy, popcorn, and a lot of water.

Luau – Pull out your Hawaiian shirts and have fun with a luau in your backyard. Implement Hawaiian treats for your menu, such as rice, pineapple ham, and a variety of vegetable and fruit platters. Have fun with tropical decorations, Hawaiian accessories, and bamboo.

Hip Hop 50’s Shop specializes in Adult Poodle Skirts, crinoline slips, saddle oxford shoes and complete 50’s costumes. We are passionate about Sock Hops and the 1950’s, so our experts share tons of advice and tips on our blog. Come visit anytime.

During Sundays, back when you were still a kid and you lived with your parents, you always went to an outdoor party. The party was sometimes held at your own yard. Sometimes, it was held at some of the houses in your neighborhood. When you were old enough, that was when you learned that the people in your neighborhood took turns hosting the outdoor parties. That was a way of getting to know each other and just relaxing in the outdoors before another hectic week started.

Now that you are already old and that you already have your own home, you miss those kinds of parties. The homes in your neighborhood do not care much though about the people around them and so they pretty much keep to themselves. You and your friends have some get togethers at times but they are just not like what you had back in the old days when people would gather just when the sun was about to set and a barbecue grill was smoking hot with all the things being cooked there.

So now you are planning on having one and inviting your friends. It was your way or reliving those memories and just being happy with the company of friends. It is an outdoor party – your outdoor party – and you certainly want it not to be fabulous but a success. A successful party does not mean that it has to be great – it just means that everybody attending has to have a good time.

It is pretty simple. Just invite the people you want to be there and make sure that they come. And when you prepare your yard, there is not much to do. Just set out chairs and tables and the barbecue grill. Prepare the food that you have to cook and keep the drinks chilled so that when the party starts, all you need to do is cook the food and just let the guests get the drinks that they want to have.

The only problem you have is the light and you do not have any kind of outdoor lighting available. Well, all you need to do is get some organic candles. One example is soy candles and you can put them in colorful holders. You can use bamboo and paint them with lovely colors. Light them up when the sun has gone down. Relax. It is going to be a success.

The summer is just around the corner and you are ready to celebrate! The kids cannot wait for their three-month long vacation to start and you are looking forward to those 36 weeks of warm weather, snow-less driveways, and rounds of golf and tennis. The best kind of celebrations, however, involves a huge group of people, great music, delicious food, and high spirits. It is time to throw a summer block party!

Try to talk to a few other families in the neighborhood with whom you are close and decide on the best date for all you. Aim for the beginning of the summer, one or two weeks after the kids get out of school. This time usually works well because people have not left for vacations yet nor have summer sports camps started up. Everyone will be around and look forward to this great party!

Once you decide on a day, make fliers and stick them in everyone’s mailboxes so that they can save the date on their calendars. Tell everyone to pull out the grills, hot dogs, lemonade, and a patio bar stool for the biggest summer kick-off celebration of the year! For music, ask the neighborhood band (the one you always hear practicing in the garage a few houses down) to perform. They will love this opportunity and nothing beats live music at the event.

Since block parties are normally all day affairs, plan to host a few fun activities. Ask around the neighborhood to see if anyone is willing to do face paint for the kids or if someone knows how to make balloon animals. Suggest that you have a pet parade and a dance contest. Karaoke is always a fantastic activity. You might discover that your neighbors have fantastic singing voices!

Make sure you that you pull out the lawn chairs and, for extra seating, drag over a patio bar stool or two. People will love coming over to catch up with your family so you want to make sure they have a place to sit down. You can even spread out giant picnic blankets so that people can relax while they watch the pet parade. A summer block party is a great idea and, if you keep it up for a few years, it will soon become a tradition!

If you would like more information on where to find a great deal on a patio bar stool or where to find some great outdoor barstools for your next block party, please visit the Premiere Barstools website.

As an award-winning “event architect,” in Austin, Texas, Hope Lawrence knows it’s the details that count when it comes to pulling off a spectacular party. But when she wants to entertain at home, this busy wedding planner’s idea of a good time is much more relaxed.

Several times a year, Lawrence and her husband Brad get together with close friends for a progressive dinner. Rather than one person taking on all the chores, each couple prepares and serves a course in their home, whether it’s cocktails, appetizers, salad, the main meal, or dessert.

The journey from house to house is part of the evening’s fun. “If you’re friendly with your neighbors you can do the progressive neighborhood walk,” she says with a laugh. “If you would rather do it with friends who live some distance apart, you can go the luxury route and hire a driver for the evening.”

GREAT WAY TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS

Lawrence started the tradition of progressive dinners after moving to her neighborhood three years ago. “We figured it was a good way to introduce ourselves.” Since Austin is famous for its warm, pleasant evenings, and many families have beautiful outdoor rooms complete with amazing views from their decks, Lawrence says it’s a great way to spend an evening. “It doesn’t require anybody to be in the kitchen for very long.

“Often you walk from place to place with your glass of wine in your hand. It can be super casual, which is the absolute opposite of many of the events I plan. That’s why I love doing them so much.”

PLANNING THE EVENING

While progressive dinners can include any number of families, Lawrence likes to limit the number of houses visited to three or four. More requires more courses, and allows less time to be spent at each house. Additional guests can also enjoy the festivities, but instead of preparing food dishes, they can pitch in by helping with the preparation and clean up.

Some progressive dinners are specifically designed as fun free-for-alls in terms of what is served. Others follow a theme. “You can do a French style six course, including appetizers, salad, soup, fish, meat, cheese and dessert,” Lawrence says. Or, the theme may revolve around a particular country’s culinary style. Party planning for one New Year’s Eve, Lawrence recalls, involved a global round-up. “The course at each house represented cuisine from a different part of the world.”

Keeping the food hot at home while hosts are eating elsewhere is always a challenge, she notes. “You have to be smart about what you serve. It has to be something that is prepared in advance and easily re-heated quickly, or kept hot in a slow cooker. The other option is to choose dishes that can be served cold.”

However, choosing what to serve is really part of the party-planning fun. In fact, what Lawrence loves best is that “it lets everybody enjoy entertaining at their own comfort and skill level. If you love to cook and have no problem doing the main course, you can go to town and show off. But if you’re more comfortable pulling ice cream out of the freezer and setting up a sundae bar, you can do that too. People can shine in their own way.”

HOW TO MAKE THE PARTY A SUCCESS

Ready to plan a progressive dinner with your friends? Here are some tips to ensure its success:

* Include friends or family members who live nearby, or no more than a 15-minute car ride away.

* Set up a timetable that lists each course, its location, and how much time will be spent at each house. That’s helpful for guests who tend to arrive late. It also keeps everyone on track throughout the evening.

* Set the table before you leave home to minimize your prep work when your guests arrive. Advance planning also ensures you have the right serving dishes and utensils ready to go.

* If you’re having the party in the neighborhood, and back-and-forth transportation isn’t an issue, head home 10 minutes before it’s your turn to host the next course. That lets you get the re-heating process underway and do any last-minute preparation that’s necessary.

DELICIOUS CHOICES

Here’s the dinner that Hope and her friends enjoyed at their most recent gathering:

Appetizers

Soft cheeses and hot pepper jelly chutney; crab dip with Old Bay seasoning

Salad

Mixed green salad with cranberries, candied pecans and balsamic vinaigrette

Main course

Scallops in caramelized soy onion sauce, Moroccan spiced rack of lamb

Side dishes

Broccoli and cheese, potato gratin

Dessert

Brownies, homemade vanilla ice cream, and hot fudge sauce.

The days of simplistic kids birthday parties have long since passed and been replaced by more sophisticated ideas and fanfare. Many moons ago, when I was a child, kid’s birthday parties were more or less only celebrated on the milestone birthdays: the first, fifth and tenth and in most instances, did not break the bank, as they sometimes do today. A little cupcake offering, on the other less impressive birthdays, was usually the offering of choice to the child’s classmates; while a small homemade cake was offered at home with the family. Traditionally back in the day, a girl’s sixteenth birthday was a time for a more grown up party and a bigger celebration.

Nowadays, children have a party pretty much every year and the parties become a little more elaborate as they go along; or at the very least, keep up with the reputation of the party the year before. It’s hard to believe that children’s parties have reputations, but kids do talk and believe it or not, so do their parents. A simplistic party just doesn’t cut it anymore with the younger crowd or with their parents for that matter. Lunchroom talk determines if the party was a hit or a miss. Like it or not, it’s a very competitive world we live in.

One can only speculate when the changeover took place, probably sometime around the time when baby dolls began to talk, walk, grow hair and go potty and electric speed racers and transformers (that can change from one form to another) came on to the scene. The more elaborate the toys it seems, the more elaborate the celebrations. Face it folks, it’s a remarkable time we live in; we are the computer age generation after all. Heck, we don’t even have to sing Happy Birthday if we don’t care to, we can buy a birthday card or ballooon that can do it for us.

Theme parties are big and can be customized from start to finish. Customized plates, cups, napkins and wall decorations in various party themes can easily be found in neighborhood party stores or right at your fingertips on the World Wide Web.

In as much as things change, some things remain the same and little girls still love princess parties and little boys still love superhero parties. Customized parties from start to finish especially in princess themes are a real hit with little girls and their little friends. In more affluent neighborhoods, some children are asked to dress in princess costumes and the once dime store loot bags are often replaced with higher priced gifts for young party guests. In fact, a dime store loot bag would probably be frowned upon in the upscale neighborhoods and some less affluent ones too.

Children’s parties change from decade to decade, but the one thing that remains constant is parties are always great fun when you celebrate with the people you love. So whether you go the traditional route and have something simple or go all out and have an extravagant affair, you are sure to have a great time!

The key factor to having a Christmas party that shall be an event to remember is to have a creative Christmas party idea. Throwing “the usual” party where everyone just sits around chatting about nothing with someone they do not really know and most probably will not see again is not something that most people will be eager to spend their precious holiday for. You need to have a Christmas party idea that is enticing to have friends looking forward to take part in your celebration.

Try these ideas for something fresh and different…or maybe even start a new tradition!

But before we go on, there is one important thing that should be kept in mind;

If you are planning to throw parties for several different groups of people, plan those parties (two…or even three) on one weekend. Invite your office co-workers over after work on Friday evening, close and neighborhood friends on Saturday evening and church friends on Sunday afternoon.

By having this kind of planning, you will be able to do everything only once, such as cleaning the house, polishing your silverware, do your grocery shopping and preparing the food. You can use the same menu, same dishes, and same decorations and even wear the same clothes for all the parties.

It may seem like a lot of work, which actually IS, but once everything is in order, you will have more time to enjoy the parties yourself!

Here are some out-of-the-ordinary Christmas party idea that shall be talked days after by friends and guests, which they will be looking forward to your entertaining again next year!

Neighborhood Decorating Party

Plan for all houses in your neighborhood to be decorated with an attractive theme. For example, one block could have angels, one Santas and the other maybe candy canes. On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, plan a simple neighborhood party around the decorating, and ask everyone to contribute something to the feast. Spend the day “neighbor helping neighbor” getting the decorations put up.

Holiday Lights

While many love to look at beautiful Christmas lights, not all really like the job of putting them up. To make this idea works, gather friends in a simple party to help each other with the task. Serve a hearty pot of chili or soup with crusty rolls and warm cider. Then go from home to home to put up the decoration lights.

In and Out

Plan a group evening time to go to a holiday movie or new release. Have someone purchase the tickets for everybody that is going to be coming ahead of time. Ask each guest to bring one part of the dinner like casserole, salad or dessert and invite them to come 2-3 hours before the movie starts. Enjoy what everyone has brought and then be off to the show. The only thing you need to do is just a little bit of housekeeping because you know that guests would not be staying all evening.

Make it Simple

Plan a party around pizza, homemade, chili, hearty salad or “self-made” sandwiches. Focusing on food theme will avoid yourself from being tempted to add just one more thing.

Drop-In Fun

Tell your friends from work that you will be home all evening and invite them to drop in. Simple steaming soup, cheese and crackers, meatballs, cheese fondue or small sandwiches are some of cool menus you can offer for this Christmas party idea. After a long day of work, no one will want to stay long, but it will be a nice opportunity to visit and relax.

Give to Others

Plan a “charity-kind-of party”, which to benefit the needy. You can organize yourself and your guests to collect things as admission to your party like canned food items or toys, or make things like blankets or socks to give to the needy or a food bank. You can also organize for a craft project and share it with residents of a retirement home. Put together food baskets and distribute to a shelter for the homeless.

Shop ‘Til You Drop Party

Plan a “Girls’ Day out” for Christmas shopping. Find some interesting places to shop for crafts, antiques or specialty items. You can stop for a light meal at a favorite lunch room in the afternoon. When you are done with the shopping, take out all the wrapping papers, gift bags, ribbon and tags, and compare your purchases before wrapping them up. Shopping, lunch, wrapping and fun…all at the same time!

Christmas Tree Decorating

This Christmas party idea has worked great for years. Ask your guests to bring two ornaments to share. You, as the host or hostess should have an ornament to share with each guest. Make a reminder mark of the occasion on the back of the ornaments. Everyone puts one of their offerings on the tree and exchange the other with another guest. Everyone will go home with two new ornaments, one from you and one exchanged. It is a great way to add “memorable occasion” to your ornament collection.

To have a great and memorable party, be it a Christmas party or whatever kind of party, is all about avoiding the “usual” stuff that makes it so predictable and letting the guests feel the “party energy” right from the beginning. This will entice eagerness in your guests to attend your party and participate in the celebration, making your party an event that will be talked about many days after.

Sometimes the most difficult adult birthdays parties to plan and execute are block parties, but when several new families have moved into the area, it is a great way, not only to welcome the new additions to the neighborhood, it is a good way for everyone to get to know each other. Neighbors who know each other tend to be happier and look out for one another, and that is always a good thing.

It is very important for everyone in the neighborhood to be invited, if you decide to have a block party. Nobody should be left out. If you have an elderly person in the neighborhood, make arrangements for someone to pick them up, so they don’t feel left out. If you have a true shut-in on your block, it is always nice to let them know ahead of time about the party, and let them know that, though they cannot attend in person, they are going to be included. Be sure and take them a plate of food, a party favor, and take the newest members on the block, and introduce them.

Party Activities for Adult Block Parties

Especially if you are having a block party for someone who is new to the area, it is nice to give them gifts, but not always necessary. You can always give them names and addresses of hairdressers, cleaners, good restaurants, dentists, physicians, etc. Free movie rentals, names of teens who mow lawns or baby-sit (perhaps even let the neighborhood kids be there for the first hour of the party, so they can put names and faces together, as well as putting the correct child with the correct parents) names of mechanics, and other places you know they will need to find eventually are often the most needed gift you can give to a neighborhood newcomer.

A great introductory game is to send a questionnaire with the invitation. Ask simple questions such as “Where do you work?” “What kind of car do you drive?” “What are your children’s names?” and “Do you have any pets, and if so, what are their names?” Then, when the line forms for the Barbeque, the “Ticket” to the food is the questionnaire, which is dropped into a box. After dinner, the questionnaires are pulled out, and the new neighbors attempt to match the questionnaire with the correct neighbor. It is a good way to get to know each other. Be sure to include some fun questions like, “What is your favorite sport?” and “What is a unique talent you possess?”

Never forget the power of music in a social gathering. You could have a dance, where each person dances with a new partner when the song changes. What better way to get to know your new neighbors, and let them get to know you, than to have a “get acquainted” adult block party to rock the block!

A kids party is a great idea. And you don’t need to wait for a birthday to make it happen. Kids love parties. Especially today’s kids who don’t grow up in large families. There social connections are precious to them.

Kids today are so inundated with modern pop culture and so busy with school work, home work, and commuting that they have very little awareness of the past when life was simpler and generally nicer. I think if you asked kids if they would like to escape the madness of our modern life a while, they would smile and say yes. You could take them camping or to the beach or even to a waterpark and they’d like all those activities. Why? Because it’s like a party to them.

When I was a kid we had these neighbourhood parties and often they were birthday parties, but times were different back then. Parents today are more creative and open minded about having parties just for the sake of giving their kids and friends a chance to get together and have fun. How about a pool party? If you don’t have a pool, it’s almost certain someone with kids in your neighbourhood does. Perhaps you could so bold as to ask them if they’d mind having a party in their backyard. There’s usually pony rides near most towns and hobby farms are becoming more popular for tots and toddlers.

Parties can be made extra special by incorporating a fun activity in them. It can be fun competitions like an obstacle course, treasure finding, or a game on the lawn. Call up someone from the local classic car club and ask them if they’d like to take the kids for a short drive. Vintage car club members really like to show off their cars and their cars are very different from today’s automobiles. Take them on a short trip to a local tourist venue perhaps a hobby farm with lots of animals to pet and feed.

Themes for Kids Parties

A good kids party can also have a theme. The theme not only gets the kids imagination in play, but more importantly it gets the parents involved. Since kids have little exposure to the past, you may want to consider vintage or retro American themes. The imaginative themes of vintage Americana takes you back to a friendlier and more wholesome era. It’s something that can make a great impression on young minds and instill them with positive values and social expectations.

When you think of sending out invitations to parties, it is only the toddler or youngster that is in mind, but the parent is more likely to see the invitation and read it. By stirring up the parent’s imagination, you’re more likely to inspire them to agree to take time to bring their kids to the party. As anyone knows who has sent out party invitations, not everyone shows up. A good invitation makes an event special and gets a better response.

If you’re choosing party invitations, there are many different types available at your local card shop or retail shopping store. All too often however, the card designs and themes are too familiar. Any card buyer knows how tough it is to find something unique and parties are supposed to be special. Would you give a friend or loved one an old birthday card that’s been available for years. It is embarrassing to give a card that the person has received many times already. Rather than being pleased, they give a sour response.

So how do you find something unique that stimulates kids imagination and makes the party a special event. Themed party invitations will suit perfectly. Depending on whether it is a boys or girls party, you can find cards on themes ranging from cowboys and cowgirls to ballerinas, zoo animals, farm animals, trains, robots, fairies, and ballerinas. You may even find some wall art on similar themes.

If it’s a cowboy or cowgirl themed party, you might find some cheap cowboy hats and a rope to use for lassoing. If you’re planning to take the kids for a pony ride, this couldn’t be more perfect.

Give your kids a special birthday party or a party just for the sake of having a get together. It’s a great way for you to meet new friends as well since their parents will be dropping them off. Check out vintage invitations cards and make it a memorable party for the kids.
